DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have arrested a 42-year-old man following the death of a man at Divis Tower flats in west Belfast.

The man’s body was discovered in a flat on Sunday night.

Police are treating the death as suspicious and have said the investigation is at a “very early stage”.

Detective Supt Kevin Geddes of MIT said his team are seeking anyone on the “14th, 15th or 16th floors of Divis Towers” who heard anything suspicious between Saturday night and Sunday to contact them.

Sinn Féin MLA Fra McCann said the local community was “in shock”.

“Divis Tower is a tight-knit community and this will be felt by those who live there.

“It is too soon to speculate as to the cause of death but the PSNI are treating it as suspicious.”

Mr McCann added: “Our thought and prayers will be with the victim’s family and friends at this time.”
