LETHAL PIPE BOMB DEVICE DEFUSED OUTSIDE HOUSE IN WEST BELFAST

PSNI crestPOLICE in west Belfast say a deadly pipe bomb device has been made safe in west Belfast.

The alert was sparked at Andersonstown Crescent in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, July 26.

A report of a suspicious object at a house in the area was received at around 12.30 am.

The PSNI say A number of homes were evacuated and roads closed for several hours whilst the object was examined.

Army Technical Officers were tasked to the scene who declared it a viable pipe bomb type.

It was made safe and then taken for further examination.

Residents were allowed back to their homes just before 3.30am.

Detective Sergeant Natalie McNally has appealed for anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101.
