MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK: VICTIM OF DEPRESSION WANTS TO BREAK DOWN STIGMA

TODAY is the start of Mental Health Awareness week.

And one victim of depression has made a video in an effort to help break down stigma surrounding mental illnesses that still exists today.

Emma Norris is 18 and from Belfast.

She says: “As a sufferer of depression I have experienced first hand some of the issues that the lack of education and understanding surrounding mental health can cause and that it something I strive to try and help change.

“So as mental health awareness week starts today I would love it if you would be able to take the time to highlight something important regarding mental health during the week, whatever that may be.

“To give you an idea (but there are many more impressive things out there) I have made a video about educating others on how to talk to someone with depression.

“It is these small educational steps which will help us get over the hurdle of mental health stigma.

“Thank you for anything you could do to raise awareness for mental health”
