POLICE are investigating after a man was shot a number of times in an attack in north Belfast.

The shooting happened in an alleyway between Sheridan Street and Donore Court off the Antrim Road.

The PSNI say the gun attack happened around 1 am this morning.

The man, in his 20s, is in a stable condition in hospital.

Detectives in north Belfast have appealed for anyone with information about the shooting to contact them on the 101 non-emergency number.
