THIEVES HUNTED AFTER WW1 MEDALS STOLEN IN BELFAST BURGLARY

WW1 MEDALS STOLENDETECTIVES are on the trail of thieves who stole World War One medals stolen in a Belfast burglary.

The “distinctive” WWI  medals (pictured above) are said by police to be of “great sentimental value” have been stolen during a burglary in north Belfast.

The medal haul included:

  • a 1914 Star and a 1915 Star;
  • a victory medal bearing an angel and the inscription “the Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919”;
  • and a Military Medal, which bears the head of King George and an inscription for bravery in the field.

Police said they were stolen from a house in Parkmount Road at the weekend.

Anyone with information about the theft or has been offered them for sale is asked to ring detectives at the Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on the 101 number.
