MAN TO FACE COURT OVER BELFAST ROBBERIES

Laganside Court houseDETECTIVES have charged a man with a variety of offences over a spate of robberies and a hijacking in Belfast.

The 34-year-old man has been charged with robbery, attempted robbery, hijacking and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon with intent.

The robberies are believed to have been carried out in the Ravenhill and Ormeau Road areas on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2.

It is understood the hijacking happened last Friday in the Short Stand area of Belfast.

The man is due to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing.
