COUPLE’S TERRIFYING ORDEAL AFTER ARMED ATTACK IN EAST BELFAST

Police scene armed copDETECTIVES are investigating after a man was assaulted and a woman threatened at a house in east Belfast.

Police say two men came to the door of the home in the Holywood Road area on Thursday evening around 7.30 pm.

One of them was believed to have been armed with a gun.

The pair assaulted the man, aged in his 20s, and threatened the woman, aged in her 30s, in the house.

Police said both men had scarves over their faces and one of the men was dressed in dark clothing and had a black rucksack around his neck.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Mary White said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
