POLICE are investigating after the body of a woman was found n a beach in Co Down.

The probe was launched her remains were discovered at Tyrella beach at around 3.10 om this afternoon.

The beach is situated just off the road between Downpatrick and Newcastle.

The body was found by a man who was out walking his dog along the beach.

Crime Scene Investigators are at the scene examining her body and the surrounding area for any clues.

Her body will be later removed for a post mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

There are no further details at present.
