DETECTIVES have charged a man over the murder bid on a mother in her own home.
Stephen McFarlane was formally charged this evening at Musgrave PSNI station with attempted murder following the stabbing of the woman in Newtownabbey last week.
The 33-year-old was arrested last Friday on the Newtownards Road after police corned his white Audi sports car as it drove down a dead end street.
The 26-year-old victim was seriously assaulted in the Ashgrove Road area off the Carnmoney Road on Wednesday, January 13.
McFarlane has now been charged with attempted murder, breach of a non-molestation order, burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, two counts of theft and four other offences.
He is to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning for a first remand hearing.
As is normal procedure, all charges faced by McFarlane will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
