DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have released a 23-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of Eddie Girvan.

The suspect has been released unconditionally.

Eddie Girvan, 67, was found in his home on Station Road in Greenisland by police around 9.30 on Monday.

His hands were tied and he had a stab wound to his chest.

Police had earlier been given 36 more hours to question the man and a 29-year-old woman over the killing.

The woman and a 24-year-old man who was arrested in Belfast over the murder remain in custody.
