DETECTIVES investigating the stabbing and serious assault of a 26 year old woman at Ashgrove Road in the Carnmoney area of Newtownabbey on Wednesday 13th January have made a fresh appeal for information.

They are seeking information on the movements of Stephen McFarlane’s distinctive white Audi A6 car either bearing the registration T44SMF, or bearing no registration plates.

Detective Chief Inspector Tracey Mageean said, “ We are keen to hear from anyone who noticed this car being driven between the evening of Wednesday 13th and lunchtime on Friday 15th January, when it was detected by police and stopped in east Belfast.

“I would ask anyone with any information regarding the movements of the white Audi A6 to contact police at Public Protection Branch in Ballymena on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Stephen McFarlane was arrested at 2 pm on Friday while driving down a dead end street of the Newtownards Road in east Belfast.

He was wanted for questioning over the stabbing of the woman at Ashgrove Road in Carnmoney.

He had been on the run for two days for detectives.
