MAN BEATEN WITH BASEBALL BATS BY MASKED LOYALIST GANG

Police securityppicDETECTIVES are hunting a loyalist gang who abducted a man and later beat him around the body with baseball bats.

Police say the 32-year-old man was walking on Salia Avenue in Carricfergus shortly before 7pm on Friday when he was put into a car.

His abductors then drove a short distance to Cypress Place where he was attacked by four men armed with baseball bats and dressed in dark clothing and were wearing balaclavas.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for cuts and bruises.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that could assist with the investigation to contact them at Larne station on the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
