DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch have charged a man over a vicious assault in north Belfast on New Year’s Day.
The 29-year-old faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861.
He has also been charged with having an offensive weapon in a public place.
The suspect is due before Belfast Magistrates’ Court his morning for a first remand hearing.
The 24-year-old victim was found with a number of slash wounds to his face in an an entry off Glencairn Way around 5 am on January 1.
He was treated for his injuries in hospital but they were not believed to be life-threatening.
