MAN CHARGED WITH MOUNT VERNON FLAT ATTEMPTED MURDER

Laganside Court houseDETECTIVES have charged a 29-year-old man with attempted murder after a man was left critically injured in a flat in north Belfast on Monday.

He has also been charged with grievous bodily harm and two counts of threats to kill.

The suspect is due before Belfast Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday, January 4.

 

The victim was beaten with a bar bell and his body later discovered at a flat in Ross House, Mount Vernon at around 11.10 am on Monday, December 28.

The 29-year-old was arrested in the city on Friday night on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

A 41-year-old woman was remanded in custody this week charged with attempted murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Julie Larsen, of Ross House, was also accused of causing GBH to another woman at the scene.

She is accused of cleaning up the scene after her son Matthew Larsen was attacked in his flat.

A detective told the court that Mr Larsen was struck up to 20 times after an initial blow to the head caused his ear to “explode”.
