DETECTIVES investigating a vicious attack in north Belfast in which a man sustained slash injuries to his face have arrested a suspect.

The man was found with cuts to his face in the Glencairn Way area of north Belfast shortly after 5am on Friday, New Year’s Day.

The arrest was made in the north Belfast area on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old man was held under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is currently in the PACE custody suite at Musgrave PSNI being quizzed about the attack.
