MAN ARRESTED OVER NORTH BELFAST MURDER BID

Mount VernonDETECTIVES investigating the attempted murder of a 24 year old man in north Belfast this week have made a fresh arrest.

The victim was beaten with a bar bell and his body later discovered at a flat in Ross House, Mount Vernon at around 11.10 am on Monday, December 28.

Police say detectives have now arrested a 29 year old man over the murder bid.

He was arrested in the city last night on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

A 41-year-old woman was remanded in custody this week charged with attempted murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Julie Larsen, of Ross House, was also accused of causing GBH to another woman at the scene.

She is accused of cleaning up the scene after her son Matthew Larsen was attacked in his flat.

A detective told the court that Mr Larsen was struck up to 20 times after an initial blow to the head caused his ear to “explode”.
