WOMAN TO FACE COURT OVER MOUNT VERNON MURDER BID

Laganside Court houseDETECTIVES have charged a woman with attempted murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The charges have been brought after a 24-year-old man was found seriously injured in a flat in the Mount Vernon area of north Belfast on Monday.

He is currently fighting for his life in hospital.

Detectives are still trying to establish exactly what happened to the victim.

He was found at Ross House at about 11.10 pm.

The 41-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday as part of the police probe.

She is to to face Belfast Magistrates’ Court today for a first remand hearing.

A 17-year-old teenage boy was released on police bail yesterday pending further enquiries.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: “While we are following definite lines of enquiry and will be making make more arrests, I am again appealing to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
