MAN SHOT IN LOYALIST PARAMILITARY GUN ATTACK

Police securityppicDETECTIVES from the PSN’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch are investigating after a man was shot in the leg.

The brutal attack happened in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim last night.

It is believed the attack was carried out by the breakaway ‘South East Antrim UDA’.

The man, in his 50s, was walking in the mainly loyalist Castlemara estate at about 7.30 pm when he was approached by three masked men.

He was then shot in the leg.

The victim was treated in hospital for a single gunshot wound to his calf.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on the 101 non-emergency number.

In particular, they want anyone who saw three masked run away after the attack.
