SCREWDRIVER THUG ROBS FAST FOOD TAKEAWAY

Police scene armed copPOLICE are hunting a man who robbed a Subway armed with a screwdriver on the northern outskirts of Belfast.

It happened on the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey on Monday evening.

The man, thought to be in his 20s, entered the food outlet around 6.30 pm.

He threatened staff before making off with cash in the direction of O’Neill Road.

Fortunately, staff members weren’t injured in the attack.

He is described as 6ft tall and was wearing a grey coloured hooded top, dark coloured body warmer and had a dark coloured scarf covering his face.

Detective Inspector Christopher Millar is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information that could assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Antrim Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
