WHAT A COCK-UP! COPS ADMIT THEY GOT ROAD SPEED LIMIT WRONG – BY 20 MPH!!

Police speed trapYOU would think the PSNI would know the difference between a 30 mph road and a 50 mph.

Not so!

The boys and girls in green have had to apologise for telling motorists that a road in Co Antrim was 20 mph less than it actually was.

In a Facebook message this evening, the PSNI district said: “We sent a post regarding the speed limit on the Antrim Road from Sandyknowes Roundabout to Park Road.

“We wrongly advised you that this section of road had reduced to a 30 mph zone.

‘Hands up’ folks, we got it wrong.

“Many of you have rightly pointed out that this section of road is 50mph on the duel carriageway and then comes down to 40 mph at the end of this section of roadway and then goes up to 60 mph in the vicinity of the Chimney Corner Hotel.

“The message carries a safety message that high speed is generally a contributing factor in a high percentage of collisions, this message remains the same.

“We strongly urge all motorist to bear this in mind when out and about driving.

“We would like to apologise for any confusion this has caused, whilst at the same time thanking you for your interaction and interest in our social media site.”

It could be a case of back to the books this evening for some at PSNI Carrickfergus and Glengormley district.
