MAN TO FACE COURT ON ‘MAFIA’ FEUD MURDER BID CHARGES

Omagh magistrates courtDETECTIVES have charged a 20 year old man with two counts of attempted murder linked to an Eastern European ‘Mafia’ feud.

The suspect is further accused of kidnap, possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and a number of drugs offences.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

It is understood the charges are believed to relate to two shooting incidents in Newry on Thursday 17th September and also the search of a property at Churchill Park in Portadown on Tuesday 20th October.

The man had been also been quizzed about the murder of a Lithuanian criminal who was found tortured to death in a garage at Moors Road near Coalisland, Co Tyrone.
