MASKED AND ARMED MEN STEAL CAR AT GUNPOINT

Police car collectDETECTIVES are investigating a terrifying incident in which a woman’s car was stolen at gunpoint.

Police say the armed robbery took place at a house at Ballycraigy Gardens, Newtownabbey, last night, Monday, September 28.

Detective Sergeant Colin Gray said, “ It was reported that just before 11pm, two men, both wearing balaclavas and one armed with a firearm, entered the house through the back door and confronted the male and female occupants in the kitchen.

“The firearm was pointed at the occupants and a demand made for the keys to their car.

“The keys were handed over and the men made off in the white Peugeot 308 car which was discovered on fire a short time later at Kiln Road.

“A handbag was also reported to have been stolen from the house.”

DS Gray added: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity near Ballycraigy Gardens or Kiln Road on Monday evening to contact detectives at Antrim on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
