AN 84-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after driving the wrong way on the M1 before colliding with a parked up police vehicle.

The PSNI say the Volkswagen Polo car struck a stationary police car between the Lurgan and Moira junctions yesterday morning, Monday, September 22.

A police officer was also injured and was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital for treatment.

The Police Ombudsman has been informed and will decide on whether to launch an investigation.
