SINN Féin MLA Jennifer McCann has condemned the stabbing of a woman in west Belfast.
A 26-year-old man was arrested following the stabbing in the Poleglass estate on the outskirts of west Belfast last night that has left a 35-year-old woman in a critical but stable condition.
Police said that at around 6 pm on Monday, a man and a woman called at a property in Woodside View.
They became involved in an altercation with a woman at the door before leaving the scene.
She was stabbed in the stomach and taken to hospital.
The man was arrested in north Belfast at around 1 am this morning.
Jennifer McCann ML said the stabbing had a “wide-reaching impact on victims, their families and the wider community”.
Ms McCann said: “I unreservedly condemn this attack. Using knives as a weapon to attack someone often results in death or life-changing injuries.”
