WEST Belfast SDLP MLA Alex Attwood says the intensive talks planned for next week must resolve outstanding issues.
He said the issues which have dogged the institutions for too long are dealt with decisively and properly to ensure long lasting peace, progress and stability.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s talks, Mr Attwood said: “It is useful that talks are now being convened.
“The SDLP has written to the two governments, urging that the agenda include a commitment to the rule of law, Stormont House and the Good Friday Agreement with the full operation of its institutions and implementation of its values.
“The talks must be the only show in town. London must not have any understanding front or back door on any issue with any party, be it DUP on suspension or Sinn Fein on the rule of law.
“This is a crucial opportunity for all the parties in the north to deal decisively and properly with the issues that have dogged us for too long.
“The SDLP made clear to the governments today that these must be dealt with now and agreed in full by all, to ensure there is real lasting progress, peace and stability in the north.”
