DCI John McVea says his team have suspect no 13 arrested over Kevin McGuigan murder

DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have arrested a 46 year old man in Antrim today in connection with the murder of former PIRA killer Kevin McGuigan.

The 53-year-old was shot dead outside his Comber Court home in the Short Strand, east Belfast, by two gunman.

Police say members of the Provisional IRA were involved in the murder along with members of a criminal gang calling themselves Action Against Drugs (AAD).

Detective Chief Inspector John McVea said today: “The suspect is assisting officers at the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station.”

The man is now the 13th person to beĀ arrested as part of the overall investigation.

A 41 year old man arrested on Wednesday 2 September remains in custody.
