Detective Inspector Pete Mullan appeals for information over east Belfast assault

DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was assaulted by two men armed with what is believed to have been a gun.

Police say they entered his east Belfast home in the early hours of the morning.

The attack happened in the Thorndyke Street area just before 3.30 am this morning, Saturday, August 29.

The 29-year-old victim suffered injuries to his head and hands.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment to his non life-threatening injuries.

Detective Inspector Peter Mullan of the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch in Belfast said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
