Housewives heartthrob Jamie Dornan up for gong in Ulster Tatler 2015 awards

BELFAST will be well represented at this year’s Ulster Tatler Awards 2015 with no fewer than 22 individuals and businesses from the city and its surrounding areas shortlisted for a prestigious gong.

Now in its eighth year, the Ulster Tatler Awards celebrates the achievements of Ulster folk and businesses, the likes of which have filled the pages of the province’s leading lifestyle magazine for almost 50 years.

As well as awards for businesses in the beauty, fashion, interiors and hospitality industries, the ceremony also recognises individuals who have helped put Northern Ireland on the map, in the form of the Celebrity of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and the showcase Lifetime Achievement Award.

Amongst the Belfast nominees shortlisted are Andrew Watson of Andrew Watson Hair (Business Man of the Year), Ciara Daly of Ciara Daly Make Up and Kathy Hannah of Lowry Grace Consultancy (Business Woman of the Year).

A number of Belfast-based businesses are also shortlisted including Evelin Brandt (Fashion Boutique of the Year), Roycroft Interiors (Interiors Store of the Year), Elizabeth Anne Hair, Bellaire (Hairdressing Salon of the Year), Therapie Clinic, Happy Feet Podiatry (Cosmetic Practice/Clinic of the Year), Howard Street,  James St. South, Ox and Graze (Restaurant of the Year), La Mon Hotel, The Merchant Hotel (Hotel of the Year), NIAMH, PIPS, Action Cancer, Victim Support NI (Charity of the Year), Spoon Street (New Business Start Up of the Year), Henry Gowan Travel and Oasis Travel (Independent Travel Agent of the Year).

The Ulster Tatler Awards in association with Optilase Eye Clinic features 14 categories voted for by the public, as well as the celebrated Lifetime Achievement Award which has been presented to some of the province’s best loved individuals including Barry McGuigan, Phil Coulter, James Galway, Dame Mary Peters OBE, Brian Friel, Gloria Hunniford and Terri Hooley.

Shortlists in each category have been compiled from votes cast by members of the public with judging panels of media and industry experts then selecting the winners to be announced at the glamorous ceremony which will take place on September 17 in the iconic Belfast City Hall, presented by local TV personality Pamela Ballantine.

Happy Feet Podiatry“Northern Ireland has produced a wealth of talent in business, sports and entertainment,” said Chris Sherry, editor of Ulster Tatler.

“It is quite difficult to choose only one winner in each category as the standard of talent is just so high.

“We are looking forward to the awards celebration which gets better and better each year with local celebrities and surprise performers making it an event not to be missed!” concluded Chris.
