A MAN arrested over the murder of former IRA member Kevin McGuigan it to face a court this morning charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The 53-year-old is due to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday for a first remand hearing.

Police arrested a 26-year-old man as part of their investigation on Wednesday.

A 49-year-old man is still being questioned.

Three other men – including IRA Shankill bomber Sean Kelly – and a woman have been released unconditionally.

Father-of-nine Kevin McGuigan was shot dead outside his home at Comber Court in the Short Strand area of east Belfast last week.

Two masked Provo gunmen walked up to him as he was getting out of his car and raked him with a fusilade of rounds.

During searches into his murder, police recovered two guns in the Lagmore area of west Belfast on Tuesday.

Family relatives believed Kevin McGuigan was murdered in revenge for the killing in May of IRA leader Jock Davison in the nearby Market district.
