The accident happened this morning, Tuesday, August 18, on the M2 northbound between Sandyknowes and Greencastle.
The PSNI have said circumstances of the collision are now under investigation.
Inspector Rosie Leech said: “The circumstances of the collision, which occurred just before 6am, are now under investigation.
“We are keen to hear from witnesses. The number to call is 101.”
The victim is the 43rd person to be killed on Northern Ireland’s roads this year.
The M2 northbound between Sandyknowes and Greencastle has now re-opened.
