Man arrested in Donegal over brutal stab murder of Jennifer Dornan now facing extradition

A MAN arrested in Co Donegal who is wanted over the brutal stab murder of mum of three Jennifer Dornan has been moved to a Dublin jail ahead of an extradition hearing.

The PSNI’s Major Investigation Team in conjunction with its Extradition Unit will issue a a European Arrest Warrant to Gardai for the 37-year-old to be brought back to Belfast for questioning.

The suspect was arrested in Donegal on Friday night in an unrelated matter.

The PSNI say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her murder.

The man, who was known to Jennifer, was moved yesterday from Donegal to Dublin’s Mountjoy jail ahead of an extradition hearing.

Ms Dornan was found dead in her torched home in west Belfast in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The killer stabbed her through the chest up to six times with a 14 inch pairing knife and then set fire to her home in a bid to destroy forensic clues.

The 37-year-old man was arrested following contact between the gardaĆ­ and PSNI detectives investigating the murder.

In a statement on Saturday night, the PSNI said the man was detained in Co Donegal on an unrelated matter yesterday evening, Friday, August 7.
