WOMAN HIT WITH GUN DURING EAST BELFAST BURGLARY

Police scene armed copDETECTIVES are investigating after a woman was struck with the butt of a gun during an east Belfast burglary.

Police say four masked men forced their way into the woman’s Grove Street home off the Beersbridge Road around midnight.

They attacked the woman before snatching her mobile phone and making off.

The victim was treated for injuries to the left side of her forehead and leg.

However, police say her injuries are fortunately not life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Mary White said: “Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who noticed anything suspicious in and around the area at this time to call the 101 number.

“Alternatively information can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.”
