POLICE SMASH ILLEGAL GAS BOTTLING PLANT IN SOUTH ARMAGH

Ardmore PSNI stationDETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch have arrested four people and seized a large number of gas cylinders during searches in south Armagh today.

Inspector Lorraine Dobson said: “As part of an investigation into the illegal production and sale of bottled gas, police conducted searches at premises on Coolderry Road, Newry and Larkins Road, Crossmaglen today, 20 July.

“We seized in excess of 1000 gas cylinders and eleven vehicles including a curtain sided lorry and G-Power forklift.

“A quantity of wine was also seized, along with computers and documentation.

“Four people – a 23 year old man, 67 year old man, 31 year old female and 31 year old man – have been arrested for theft and possession of criminal property.

“They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“The Health and Safety Executive have been notified.”
