TEEN GIRL ARRESTED OVER RIOTING IN NORTH BELFAST

police crime scene pic 1POLICE are questioning a teenage girl after PSNI officers were injured in North Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

They were attacked just before 12.50 am in Woodvale Road when four or five petrol bombs were thrown.

Masonry was also thrown and two police officers were injured by bottles at approximately 1.30 am.

A 16-year-old teenage girl was arrested on suspicion of riotous behaviour following the disturbances in the early hours of this morning,Wednesday, July 15.

She is currently assisting police with their enquiries

Earlier in the evening, masonry was thrown in the area and a young male was taken home and cautioned when he was discovered with a pocket full of bottles.

Inspector Michael White: “Police remained in the area while calm was restored. The 16 year old female is currently assisting police with their enquiries.”

In a separate incident two men, aged 38 and 37, have been charged with doing a provocative act and are both due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.

The 38 year old man has also been charged with dangerous driving, no driving licence and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

It is believed that the charges relate to an incident that occurred in the Ardoyne area on the evening of Tuesday, July 14.
