MAN INJURED AFTER SHOVEL THROWN THROUGH CAR IN HIT-AND-RUN SMASH

Police scenePOLICE in north Belfast are appealing for information after a report of a hit and run road traffic collision.

It happened at Bruslee Way with its junction of New Lodge Road last night.

Detective Sergeant Kenneth Leckey said: “Around 8 pm it was reported that a silver car mounted the footpath striking a 20 year old man.

“A shovel was also thrown from the vehicle which struck a woman aged in her 40’s who was also standing on the pavement.

“The man was taken to hospital for treatment to head and shoulder injuries and the woman was treated for a cut to her leg. Neither of which are life threatening.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would ask anyone with any information to contact detectives in Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101.
