MAN SHOT IN BOTH ANKLES IN PARAMILITARY SHOOTING

Police scene armed copDETECTIVES are appealing for information following a paramilitary style shooting last night.

It happened in the Downfine Gardens area of West Belfast.

Police say that at around 8.40 pm, officers received a report that a 26 year old man had been shot in both ankles.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
