MAN TO FACE COURT OVER HIJACK BID ON WOMAN DRIVER

Laganside Court houseDETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime Branch have charged a man with attempted hijacking.

It is understood the charge relates to an attempted hijacking at a service station in west Belfast on the evening of April 24 this year.

The incident took place on Lanark Way during which an attempt was made by a gang to pull a 51-year-old female motorist from her vehicle.

They tried and failed to pull her from the vehicle as she was getting into her car near the petrol  pumps.

Police say the gang then ran off towards the Springfield Road.

Following inquiries and studying CCTV footage from the forecourt, a 28-year-old male was identified, arrested and charged to court.
