DETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Reactive and Organised Crime branch have arrested a 23-year-old woman as part of an international drugs investigation.
She was detained after herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £100,000 was seized in east Belfast.
The drugs were found at a house on the Upper Newtownards Road on Tuesday.
The woman was arrested at the scene and is being held on suspicion of drugs trafficking and money laundering offences.
She is also being questioned about the importation of cannabis from Italy.
In March, around a dozen people were detained and almost £1 million worth of ‘skunk’ cannabis was seized.
Police believe Chinese Triads were flooding the market over the past number of years to the tune of £10 million.
