ELDERLY WOMAN’S JEWELLERY STOLEN IN DISTRACTION BURGLARY

PSNIDETECTIVES in Bangor are appealing for information following a distraction burglary.

It happened at a house in the Mountstewart Road area of Carrowdore yesterday morning, Saturday, May 9.

A man in his 20’s called to the house at around 11.30 am claiming to be from the Electricity Board.

He convinced the elderly female occupant to come into the rear garden whilst he explained proposed work to be carried out.

When she returned to the house, around thirty minutes later, the lady discovered a quantity of jewellery missing from the house.

The man was described as being around 6’ tall, of slim build with dark hair.

He was wearing blue jeans, a white tee-shirt and green and yellow gloves.

Detective Sergeant David Cameron would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Mountstewart Road area of Carrowdore or who has any information about this incident to contact detectives in Bangor on 101.
