TEEN HELD OVER BOMB FIND IN NORTH BELFAST

Antrim serious crime suiteDETECTIVES from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit have arrested an 18-year-old man over a bomb find in north Belfast.

The teenager is being quizzed after the discovery of the device which police described as a “substantial bomb”.

A senior officer said it was meant to kill police officers patrolling in the area.

The cylinder device was found at the Crumlin Road junction with Brompton Park on Friday, May 1 after a phone warning to a Holy Cross church priest.

The suspected teenager was arrested following a series of searches in north Belfast on Thursday morning.

He is currently being held at the serious crime suite in Antrim police station.
