Man to face Lisburn Magistrates’ Court charged sex attack bid on teen woman

DETECTIVES investigating an attempted sex assault on a 19-year-old woman last year have charged a man.

The attack happened after she got into a taxi at Lower Crescent, south Belfast, around 1.30 am on September 16, 2014.

She was attacked and left abandoned on Carr Road, Carryduff, Co Down.

The assault was reported to police at about 03.40 BST.

A PSNI spokesman said a 33-year-old man has been charged with “committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence and criminal damage”.

He was arrested in Ballymoney on Tuesday.

The man is to face Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on 22 May.
