POLICE PROBE TAXI HIJACK BID IN WEST BELFAST

Police scene armed copDETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses following an attempted hijacking in the Lady Street area of west Belfast last night.

Police say that shortly after 11 pm it was reported that a taxi driver pulled up outside a house in the street when two males got into his vehicle and threatened him.

One of the males pulled the handbrake up and the other got into the rear of the vehicle with a chain.

The taxi driver managed to get them out of the vehicle before driving off.

One of the males is described as being 16-17 years old, approximately 5’9” tall, of slim build with short dirty fair hair.

The second male is described as being approximately 16 years old and of slim build.

Detective Constable Sam McCallum is appealing for anyone who can help identify those involved in this incident or anyone who may be able to assist the investigation in any other way to contact Belfast Reactive and Organised Crime on the non-emergency number 101.
