Detective Inspector Pete Mullan says firearm seized in Belfast searches

DETECTIVES have seized a gun during planned searches cross parts of Belfast today.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: “Detectives from Belfast City Policing Command Unit investigating serious crime carried out a number of searches at properties in North and West Belfast today.

“A suspected handgun was recovered at one of the properties and has been taken away for further forensic tests to be carried out.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.”

DI Mullan added:  “We are very pleased to have taken this weapon out of circulation and we will continue in the days and weeks ahead to progress with our enquiries into serious criminal activity and to keep people safe.
