SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER SEVEN STRONG GANG BEAT MAN IN HOME

police crime scene pic 1DETECTIVES have arrested a suspect after up to seven men carried out a UDA paramilitary-style attack on a man in his north Belfast home.

The gang, some of whom who were wielding baseball bats, forced their way into property in Forthriver Drive around 10 pm last night.

They attacked 36-year-old victim with bats around the face and body.

During a follow up investigation, a 33-year-old man was arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.

Detective Constable Gareth Hussey explains: “The victim sustained a number of suspected fractures however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“A suspect was subsequently arrested in the Crumlin Road area at around 2 am.

“He remains in custody at this time assisting us with our enquiries.”
