DETECTIVES have charged a man with kidnapping, false imprisonment and common assault.

The 25-year-old is expected to appear at Ards Magistrates’ Court this morning for a first remand hearing.

He also faces charges of assault on police and dangerous driving.

It is understood the charges are believed to relate to the report of a kidnapping of a 26-year-old woman in east Belfast on Saturday 4 April.

Police say it was a result of domestic abuse.

During follow up inquiries, the man was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, April 8.
