MAN CHARGED OVER ARMED HIJACK BID IN BELFAST

Laganside Court houseA MAN is to face a court in the morning charged over an armed hijacking bid in Belfast.

It relates to an incident in North Street on Monday evening, March 23.

Detective Inspector Jenna Fitzpatrick has confirmed that detectives in south Belfast have charged a 23 year old man with attempted hijacking, disorderly behaviour and possession of a firearm or imitation firearm in suspicious circumstances.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25th March.

As is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

During the incident the suspect was struck by the car and sustained a broken leg.

The driver of the car was spoken to by police.
