DETECTIVES have recovered a firearm during a security operation in west Belfast.
Police and Army Technical Officers examined a number of items uncovered including the weapon in the White Rise area of Lagmore on Friday night.
This followed an intelligence-led operation.
They were put in sealed forensic bags and taken away for further examination at Seapark in Co Antrim.
Police say no homes were evacuated during the operation.
The weapon recovered is said to be in a poor condition.
