A security alert at the headquarters of the British Army in Northern Ireland has now ended.

Army Technical Officers were called examined a suspicious object inside a perimeter fence of Thiepval Barracks in Lisburn this morning.

However, following an examination, the ATO said it was “nothing untoward”.

During the security alert, Duncans Road was closed at its junctions with the Antrim Road and Beechdene Drive.

It has now reopened.

The PSNI say that residents from 30 houses in Dog Kennel lane who were moved during the alert could now return.
