MEN QUIZZED OVER ATTEMPTED MURDER IN WEST BELFAST

Police car collectDETECTIVES have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder following a serious assault on a man in west Belfast three days ago.

A 35-year-old man was attacked in Springfield Avenue at about 9.50 PM on Thursday.

Police said he remains in a “serious condition” in the Royal Victoria Hospital.

The men, both aged 26, were arrested in north Belfast on Saturday.

They are still being questioned at Musgrave Police Station.

Det Insp Pete Mullan appealed for anyone who was in Springfield Avenue on Thursday and witnessed an altercation, or anyone with any information about the attack, to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
