THUGS HUNTED OVER NORTH BELFAST HOUSE ATTACK

Police car collectDETECTIVES in North Belfast are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary in the Woodvale Avenue area on the evening of Saturday, 31 January.

Just after 8pm it is reported that two males, wearing dark clothing and baseball caps, forced their way into a house.

It is believed that they were armed with a hammer and a knife.

One resident, a 23 year old man, fleed the house unharmed.

Another man, aged 22, was assaulted with a hammer but did not require medical treatment at the time.

There was also another man, aged in his 50s, in the house who was not injured in the incident.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Madden said: “I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact CID at Tennent Street Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
